Residential – Local and National Moves
Residential moves require considerable planning and we’ll work with you from start to finish to ensure a move that’s safe, efficient, and affordable.
Need a truck? How about a dumpster? Our partners can supply the right size at the right time. Need a moving crew? Help with sorting and packing? We recommend that you have our team of experienced people do your packing. Prefer to pack things yourself? We can supply all the packing materials you need.
How about dis-assembly and re-assembly of entertainment centers, playsets, or even an entire bedroom suite? We can handle that, too!
We’ll meet with you, answer your questions, and offer all of the help you need to prepare yourself and your family for moving day. We’ll do as much or as little as you like, and detail the work in a written estimate that we’ll provide upfront, so there are no surprises once the move gets underway.
Commercial, Manufacturing, and Office moves
Internal office moves… on the same floor or within your current building… can be almost as much work as moving offices across town or across the state. Even without a truck, office moves require coordination of details. Reconfiguring and reassembling office cubicles and room dividers need to be exact, and downtime during a move can hinder productivity. Firestorm relocation services will guide you through each step, and get you back up and running quickly.
Manufacturing, production, and sensitive computer equipment need to be carefully moved and reassembled exactly to spec in the precise location where they’re needed. Firestorm will oversee the details and make you productive in no time.
We understand that downsizing and moving from the home you have lived in for 40 or 50 years is emotional and overwhelming. Our moving and downsizing specialists will work with you every step of the way. From helping you have these conversations with your loved one to being there to assist with the cleanout, we will walk beside you during this transition.
We can review the floor plan of your new home and determine what will fit. Then we will help you pack and move your prized possessions. Our Cleanout team will work with you and your family after the move to work through the cleanout process, and we’ll even bring the dumpster!
One Month Before Your Move
•Create afolderto organize your move information. Keep track of notes, estimates, receipts. Include an inventory of all items you will need help moving.
•Storage: If you need storage facilities, find and book a storage unit.
•School Records: If you are moving school districts, arrange for your children’s school records to be transferred.•Supplies: Order boxes and other supplies such as tape, bubble wrap, packing paper, and permanent markers.
•Packing: Pack seasonal items (such as Christmas decorations, pool toys, etc.) that you will not need before your move. Challenge yourself to pack at least one box per day. This will save you a lot of stress down the road when you have fewer items to pack and will make you feel more prepared for your move.
•Floor Plans: Check room dimensions in your new home, if possible, and start making floor plans for how you would like your furniture to be placed. Being prepared to tell your movers exactly where each piece goes will save you time, money, and stress on move day.
•Contact Insurers: Let all of your insurers (home, vehicle, medical, etc.) know that you are moving. Ask your home insurer for details of your existing coverage and arrange for new coverage or transfer to your new home.
•Service workers: Give all service providers (gardeners, house keepers, etc.) notice you will be moving.
•Change of Address: Notify friends and family of your change of address if you have a firm moving date. Fill out the form online for the United States Post Office’s mail forwarding service. Change or cancel any subscriptions or memberships you may have.
•Separate Valuables: Put items such as jewelry and important files in a safe box that you can personally transport to your new home.
Two Weeks Before Your Move
•Work: Arrange to be off work on your moving day.
•Utilities: Contact utility companies and service providers to arrange to have your appliances/services disconnected and, if necessary, reconnected in your new home.
•Packing: If you are packing yourself, it is time to step up your packing game. Let your present self do your future self a favor; DO NOT wait until the week of your move to start packing everything by yourself. If you’re like everyone else and ignored recommendations from the professionals to start packing a month in advance, the good news is that you still have time! You can do it! WE BELIEVE IN YOU.
•Vehicle: If you are moving long distance, make sure your car is running well. Ask your mechanic what services might be needed, especially if you are moving to a different climate.
•Fridge and Pantry: Start finishing off the food you have stored, and stop buying frozen or perishable food that you won’t really be able to take with you.
•Fuel: If possible, go ahead and empty your lawnmower, weed-eater, etc. of fuel.
•Hazardous Materials: Dispose of any flammable or hazardous materials.
•Medicine: Refill any prescriptions you will need during the next couple of weeks.
One Week Before Your Move
•Appliances: If your refrigerator is moving with you, make sure to empty, clean, and defrost it at least 24 hours before moving day. Whether they are staying or going, clean all major appliances such as washing machines, dryers, and ovens.
•Paperwork: Check that all paperwork related to your house sale/rental/purchase is complete.
•Computer Equipment: Pack up your computer and any other electronic equipment. Make sure to write down their serial numbers in your moving folder.
•Labels: Make sure all of your boxes are clearly labeled.•Cleaning: Deep clean your current place from top to bottom. Get as much of the cleaning out of the way as you can so that you have less to do on move day. If you are renting, you’ll want to ensure the return of your security deposit. If you are selling, there is typically very little time between closing and the deadline for being out of your place. Do not wait until the last minute to deep clean! On move day you don’t want to have to do anything more than maybe vacuuming and very simple wipe-downs.
•Packing: If you are packing yourself, now is the time to pack all non-essentials. Pack suitcases for everyone in the family with enough clothes and toiletries to wear for a few days. Try to fit any remaining essentials in 1 box. If you can live out of your suitcase and 1 box for a few days, it will eliminate the packing stress leading up to your move and the unpacking stress after your move.

Firestorm’s professional team will wrap and pack your things to the highest standards. We use the packing industry’s recommended materials to protect your fine china, clothing, home furnishings, toys, books, and collectibles. We’ll pack all your treasures as if they were our own.
Our trained movers will work to protect your most valuable and/or fragile items and prepare them for transit. We’ll handle your heirlooms, grandfather clocks, oil paintings, and antiques that other moving companies won’t touch without holding you responsible. If they say, “it’s at your own risk”, they aren’t Firestorm!
When your belongings arrive at their new destination, we’ll use the same degree of care to unload and unpack that we did to prepare your goods for transit.

Whether you’re moving into a smaller home and just don’t have time to sort it all, or you’re getting ready to sell and you’re following your realtor’s advice to “thin things out” for showings, Firestorm has the answer.
We can move it for you
You can always move items into storage yourself, but we also offer the convenience of pickup and retrieval. This valet-style service goes beyond the typical self-storage process by actually picking up your things and delivering them to the storage unit for you.
You can also schedule a pickup or return at your convenience.This is especially helpful if you have large or bulky items, or have limited ability or time to move items yourself.

Boxes and Packing Supplies
Firestorm offers a full line of boxes and packing supplies… including packing tape, stretch wrap, bubble wrap, packing paper, etc.
While we highly recommend that you let us do your packing, we sell the boxes and materials you’ll need if you choose to do it yourself. We carry boxes sized to pack almost anything and have special boxes for dishes, TV’s, and hang-up clothing.
How many boxes do I need?
We’re pretty good at calculating the need for boxes, packing tape, and bubble wrap by the square footage and room count of your home. We’ll bring everything with us when we show up to do your packing, or we can deliver a right-sized moving supply to your door so you can do it yourself.
Renting a truck from us? We can have your supplies on board!
Renting a dumpster from BinThere, Dump That to assist in your packing and sorting? We’ll bring your supplies along!
