Kira’s platform, “Love Shouldn’t Hurt: Protecting Women Against Domestic Violence,” was her strength, passion, and driving force that led her to the Miss America crown. As an advocate against Domestic Violence, Kira has been a long-time partner with Safe Horizon, the largest provider of Domestic Violence services in the country. She worked with Safe Horizon to create the #PutTheNailInIt campaign, which has reached over 20 million people, encouraging them to show their support against Domestic Violence.

As you stroll through Downtown Findlay, stop by the Findlay Art League Gallery, Jones Building Arts Studios, The Gaslight Gallery, and Kan Du Studio to enjoy original art and a great social atmosphere. Visit local merchants offering extended hours, special sales, samples, art displays, and demonstrations. Then, savor the cuisine offered at area restaurants.

Held on the 1st Friday in May and November, ArtWalks are a great opportunity to browse and purchase affordable local art while you explore the galleries, artists studios, and local businesses that call Downtown Findlay home. Art Walks are free to the public. 

ArtWalk is a great way to spend an enjoyable evening with you friends and family! Venture downtown for ArtWalk, for this free, family-fun event.

Dueling Pianos provided by Dueling Pianos International:  A High Energy, All Request, Sing Along, Clap Along, Rock n Roll, Comedy Piano show where the audience is just as much a part of the show as the entertainers!  Visit www.duelingpianoshows.com to see what it’s all about! Bring tips to request your favorite songs!

All tickets for Dueling Pianos are $25 presale and must be purchased from The Arts Partnership Box Office at 618 South Main Street, or by calling 419-422-4624. Tickets at the door are $30.  Tables of 10 can be purchased for $275 which includes a $25 reservation fee. Cash bar available -valid ID required to purchase alcohol. All proceeds will be used to benefit our arts education program.

After the PKs 5K Road and 10K Trial Run @ Van Buren State Park

This is the 7th annual After the PKs (penalty kicks). The race takes place each year the Sunday after Ohio High School State Soccer Finals. Both the 5k road and 10k trail race start and finish at the Van Buren Sports Complex and Allen Township House. The 5k road race and 10k Trail Run through Van Buren State Park begin at 2PM. This is a TRUE trail run – tree roots, mud, and all. The trail run is through the rough terrain of a state park trail where you will be sharing the course with plants, trees, and other wildlife – and possibly a horse or two! If it rains, be ready for some fun!

Awards will be presented immediately following the completion of the race to the Overall Male/Female for both the road race and trail run.  The top male and female in each age group for both races will also receive awards – an AWESOME cupcake from Cakes for Heaven Sakes and some other goodies.  Age Divisions are as follows: single digits (9 and under)/ 10-12/13-19/20s/30s/40s/50s/60 and over.

Lots of great door prizes as well.

Awesome refreshments will be available at the Allen Twp House immediately following the race (think indoor bathrooms!)

OPEN ARMS COLLECTING GIFTS FOR FAMILIES

FINDLAY, Ohio (11/19/15) – Open Arms Domestic Violence & Rape Crisis Services is seeking donations of gifts for children and women who have been affected by domestic violence. A Client Christmas Party will be held in December, providing many clients with food, games, and gifts for Christmas. Items needed include sports equipment, gift cards, games, cars and dolls for the children. We are also seeking bath and body type items, photo albums/frames, calendars, gas/phone/gift cards, tote bags, purses, gloves and perfume items for our female adult clients. Donations are also being sought for the Client Christmas Party, with needed items including hamburger buns, plastic silverware, baked goods, vegetable trays, chips and dip and beverages.

If you wish to be one of Santa’s helpers by providing gifts for the Client Christmas Party or adopting a family, please contact Open Arms at 419-420-9261. All donations can be dropped off at the Open Arms Administrative Office, 401 West Sandusky Street, by December 9 . We ask that donors take care to ensure that all toys, books, games or other gifts are nonviolent. We also ask that the gifts not be wrapped in order for our staff to sort and separate the toys for age appropriateness.
